About Us
The name "A More Excellent Way Ministries" comes from 1 Corinthians 12:31 "But covet the best gifts: and yet I show I unto you a more excellent way."
In 1996, Cora Woods and her husband co-founded the mission of Hope House Family Restoration Center in Pembroke Township with a mission to provide hope, encouragement, educational opportunities, training and outreach to youth and families in crisis. God’s grace and favor allowed her to see much fruit as a result of opening those doors. She loves people and especially children. But most of all she loves God who has enriched her life with many blessings! In 2019, Cora's work expanded to include a second facility P.J.'s Place. As CEO of A More Excellent Way Ministries, Cora continues to provide a place of hope and healing to families in Pembroke Township.
Cora graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1973 and began her teaching career. She received intensive training from the DCFS and the Motts Foundation with special awards by Illinois Department of Human Services, Cora has also received ACES training and is a certified Wraparound Facilitator.
